BOZEMAN – Another cold start to the day with morning lows falling below zero for Butte and well below zero in West Yellowstone.

High clouds should be passing through tonight and thus forecast lows are not as cold for SW Montana but I’ll have updates on tonight’s forecast at 5:30 pm and 10 pm.

The next weather maker will be another Pacific storm hitting Montana Wednesday evening through Thursday evening.

The National Weather Service issued a WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY for far western and NW Montana through eastern Washington State Wednesday morning through Thursday morning.

Snow accumulations of 3”-8” are possible especially over Lookout Pass on I-90 and passes in northern Idaho.

This storm should produce mostly mountain snow showers with wintry travel impacts along the Montana-Idaho state line. Locally, snow accumulations will vary from a dusting to several inches with the Big Sky, West Yellowstone, to Cooke City area likely to see higher accumulations.

A FLOOD ADVISORY continues for the Jefferson River near Three Forks. The advisory has been extended another 24 hours into Wednesday but in reality this advisory will remain in place as long as the ice jam continues to keep river levels above minor flood stage.
