Several rounds of snow for SW Montana

BOZEMAN – Westerly flow aloft will continue to feed mild and moist air into the Pacific NW through the Northern Rockies for the rest of the week.

This will pave the way for several rounds of mostly mountain snow to impact SW Montana through early next week. Each disturbance will produce a quick shot of snow and over time that will add up above 6,000’. Lower valleys could see some minor snowfall at times as well so watch for possible icy road conditions if you plan on traveling.

Temperatures will remain near to slightly above normal through Friday and could be around 10° above normal this weekend. If temperatures reach the lower 40s this weekend that will melt most of the lower valley snowpack.

This strong west flow aloft is also producing stronger wind gusts locally. Wind prone areas like Ennis, Whitehall, Three Forks and especially the Livingston area will see gusts 20 to 40 mph. Livingston to Big Timber watch for possible gusts up to or over 60 mph through Wednesday afternoon.

The National Weather Service has a WIND ADVISORY up for the Livingston area and a HIGH WIND WARNING up for the Big Timber area through noon Wednesday. These areas could see peak gusts around 60 mph.
