Nice break in the weather heading into the weekend

Finally drying out
Posted

BOZEMAN - Nice break from the cool and wet weather pattern as of late with sunshine and warmer temperatures today.

Weak High-pressure will keep our overall weather pattern mostly dry and warm through the weekend. However, a Pacific cold front will pass through the state Friday afternoon through Saturday morning producing gusty surface winds but little to no precipitation for SW Montana and a few showers across Northern Montana.

Temperatures could jump above normal by Sunday and most of the region could hit the lower 80s or come close to 80 degrees.

Next week the ridge pattern will break down and a return of cool and wet weather will sweep across Montana once again.

MONTH TO DATE PRECIPITATION:

The first 12 days of September have impressive for rainfall. Locally, SW Montana is running slightly above to well above normal for month to date precipitation (see graphic).

Dillon is near normal to slightly above normal for month to date rainfall but everyone else is running between 1" to almost 2" above normal for the first 12 days of September. This short lived dry and warm weather pattern is just what we needed and it falls on a weekend.
