More of the same in the weather forecast

BOZEMAN – More of the same for the rest of the week across SW Montana.

A blocking High-pressure ridge is stalled over the western half of the country producing a WNW flow aloft over Montana.

The atmosphere is stable, and most storms are forced up and over Montana. We could see some high clouds at times, but no moisture is expected.

Another side effect of this type of a pattern is wildfire smoke will lift into the Pacific NW and eventually drift eastward into Montana. Wildfires in Northern California is the source of most of the smoke.

Temperatures will continue to run slightly above normal on most days. Normally we should be in the low to mid 60s this time of year, but the forecast is calling for mostly low 70s through next week. At night under clear skies lows can be chilly and for higher valleys frost is likely.
