The system moving in is expected to bring plenty of moisture to southwest Montana starting Tuesday afternoon through Friday. The current run of models have most valleys picking up between 0.5” and 2.0” of snow with a few outlying models bringing as much as 4 inches. The areas that are most significantly impacted are high peaks in southern Gallatin, Madison, and Beaverhead counties and mountain passes. Gusty wind and low visibility are likely to impact travel overnight on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.

There are several chances of light snow Thursday and Friday and then again starting Sunday into Monday.
