Fire weather concerns setting up Saturday

Posted

BOZEMAN – Another dry cold front will clip northern Montana Saturday. This Pacific disturbance will climb up and over a High-pressure ridge.

This will create stronger surface winds Saturday. The combination of gusty winds, low humidity, and hot temperatures will produce higher fire danger and the National Weather Service has issued a FIRE WEATHER WATCH up for most of SW Montana Saturday afternoon and evening.

The SW flow aloft will also continue to lift wildfire smoke up into southern Montana this weekend. At times air quality could be unhealthy so please try and limit your exposure to the smoke as much as possible.

A slow-moving upper-level trough will dig into the Pacific NW this weekend and drift into Montana next week. This will produce cooler temperatures beginning Wednesday of next week and hopefully with a NW flow aloft better air quality.
