BOZEMAN – Strong Pacific cold front is passing out of eastern Montana heading into the Dakotas this afternoon. Behind the cold front temperatures are trending cooler statewide. Gusty surface winds are also present but should diminish later this evening.

Locally, SW Montana will likely continue to see peak gusts around 20 to 50 mph through midnight. Wind prone areas will see the strongest gusts.

Wednesday we will be briefly between storms. The next weather maker will begin to push clouds, wind, and snow back into Montana from the west Thursday afternoon into Friday. Mountains and passes will see light to moderate snowfall and plan on wintry travel impacts.

Temperatures will stay cooler than normal through early next week.

The National Weather Service continues a WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY for the Butte/Blackfoot region through 11 pm Tuesday.

Snow bands moving through this area could produce brief moderate snow accumulations. Locally windy conditions will also produce some blowing snow and lower visibility especially near mountain passes.
