BOZEMAN – Every Thursday we get an update on the Montana drought monitor. Drought conditions across state saw a huge jump up in the “abnormally dry” category and holding about the same for “moderate” drought conditions.

Locally, the worst drought conditions continues to stretch between Dillon and Bozeman. Moderate drought conditions have been present there almost all summer and despite a good dose of rain and mountain snow earlier in the week that did very little to ease the drought conditions.

Blocking High-pressure is back over Montana and with it a mostly dry pattern through the weekend into early next week. As the flow aloft turns more out of the West to SW look for above normal temperatures by the weekend and increasing wildfire smoke.

The next chance for some rain will be Wednesday of next week.
