BUTTE – The atmosphere is slightly unstable this afternoon and with stronger surface heating and limited moisture thunderstorms are developing right on cue. Most of the thunderstorms will be on the weaker side and only a few will be strong. Regardless, all thunderstorms this afternoon and evening could produce brief heavy rain, small hail, frequent and deadly lightning, and gusty outflow winds.

When thunderstorms threaten your area please seek shelter immediately. Wait at least 30 minutes before heading back outdoors after the thunderstorm has passed by and watch for additional storms through midnight.
