Record cold possible tonight

A WIND CHILL WARNING is out for Silver Bow and Powell counties through 11 AM tomorrow morning. During this time wind chills of 40 to 50 degrees below zero will be possible. These temperatures could cause frostbite in as little at 5 minutes on exposed skin. We recommend staying indoors during these temperatures.

City by City Forecast:

BOZEMAN: LOW: -17°; HIGH SUNDAY: -2°. Bitterly cold temperatures are expected to continue for the next 48 hours. Lows will range from -15 to -25 for the Bozeman area with very little relief by tomorrow afternoon.

BUTTE: LOW: -28°; HIGH SUNDAY: 1°. Extremely and potentially record breaking low temps are expected tonight for Butte. Temps will range from -25 to -35 for Silver Bow County with wind chills approaching -50 degrees. The good news is that we will remain dry tonight and tomorrow. Please limit time outdoors.

DILLON: LOW: -15°; HIGH SUNDAY:-1°. Another very cold night is expected for Dillon with lows ranging from -10 to -20 degrees. We can expect dry conditions with temps around 0 for afternoon highs.

WEST YELLOWSTONE: LOW: -10°; HIGH SUNDAY 17°. A cold night is in store for West Yellowstone temps will range from -5 to -25 degrees depending on if the clouds clear West tonight. West will actually be relatively warm tomorrow afternoon compared to the rest of the region with highs in the teens.

Bitterly cold temps are expected to continue through at least Monday with highs struggling to get above 0. We’re going to trade these bitterly cold temps for a more active weather pattern starting Tuesday of next week. Stay tuned for more updates from the KBZK and KXLF STORMTracker weather team.
