Current weather pattern changes will impact your Friday evening commute across SW Montana. Rain is changing over to snow and wet roads will become very icy. Cold front is producing a rapid temperature drop and flash freezing of wet roads are possible and short lived strong surface winds as the front passes through producing some blowing snow and lower visibility.
Icy roads are likely at all levels through Saturday morning. Be prepared for travel delays and please allow for additional travel time.

The National Weather Service continues a “Winter Weather Advisory” through midnight.
Snow accumulations: 1″ – 3″ Valleys and 2″ – 8″ over most mountain passes.
Strong winds will produce localized blowing snow and reduced visibility.

BOZEMAN: LOW: 11°; HIGH SATURDAY: 28°. Snow likely through midnight. Snow accumulations around 1″ – 3″ is possible and nearby mountain passes could see 2″ – 6″ or more. Gusty North winds will produce some blowing snow and lower visibility as the front passes through Friday afternoon. Travel impacts will be widespread for your Friday evening commute with wet roads becoming very icy and snow covered. Saturday will be a dry day but much colder.
BUTTE: LOW: 8°; HIGH SATURDAY: 26°. Scattered snow is impacting Butte Friday afternoon and evening. Watch for wet roads to become very icy and impact your Friday evening commute. Snow accumulations of 1″ – 3″ is possible for Butte and 2″ – 6″ over nearby mountain passes. Saturday will be a dry day but much colder and Sunday morning we could drop to -6° below zero.
DILLON: LOW: 14°; HIGH SATURDAY: 32°. Rain changing to snow is likely for Dillon Friday afternoon and evening which will produce icy roads. Snow accumulations around 1″ is possible and 2″ – 6″ over nearby mountains and passes. Gusty North winds could produce some blowing snow. Storm will end after midnight and temperatures will be much colder by Saturday morning.
WEST YELLOWSTONE: LOW: 8°; HIGH SATURDAY: 29°. Cold front will impact West Yellowstone late Friday afternoon and produce scattered snow showers and gusty winds. Snow accumulations of 1″ – 4″ is possible and nearby mountain passes could see 4″ + of snow. Short lived gusty winds could produce blowing snow and lower visibility. Snow should diminish after midnight and clearing and colder by Saturday morning.
