Cold windy and wet into Wednesday for SW Montana

BOZEMAN: LOW: 29°; HIGH THURSDAY: 38°. Cloudy cool and windy tonight with scattered snow at times which could produce icy roads for your Wednesday morning commute. Wednesday morning scattered snow is possible but diminish by afternoon. Stronger East winds are likely Tuesday evening with gusts over 30 mph.

BUTTE: LOW: 28°; HIGH THURSDAY: 38°. Periods of snow tonight with light accumulations for Butte around 1″ – 2″ and icy roads for your Wednesday morning commute. Snow levels to lower to 4,500′. 2″ – 6″ of snow is possible for Homestake and Elk Park passes. East winds 15 to 25 mph tonight.

DILLON: LOW: 26°; HIGH THURSDAY: 40°. Mostly cloudy with scattered snow and gusty winds overnight. Watch for icy roads Wednesday morning. East winds 15 to 25 mph. Wednesday cloudy and chilly with a few rain or snow showers and windy.

WEST YELLOWSTONE: LOW: 21°; HIGH THURSDAY: 40°. Scattered snow and windy tonight. Snow accumulations around 2″ – 4″ are possible with higher amounts over nearby mountains and inside Yellowstone National Park. Gusty East winds 15 to 25 mph.


A weak cold front will pass through Montana Friday night into Saturday morning. This will have a minor impact on homecoming events for Montana State University Saturday morning with gusty winds and a little rain or snow.

A stronger blocking High will build over Montana next week and that will bring cooler lows but warming highs possibly nearing 60°.
