BUTTE - Butte Central High School returned to in-person classes Monday morning after being temporarily shut down for more than two weeks due to a student testing positive for COVID-19.

Instruction continued virtually during the shutdown and officials say the school was able to transition smoothly from online learning back to in-person instruction.

“Our teachers never left the building, they continued to work hard through the virtual learning phase, we've improved some of our technology systems and how we're working with students in virtual mode, so it's been a great opportunity to come back to school, just like a second reopening day,” said Butte Central Principal J.P. Williams.

The principal said there were no reported positive cases of staff or students as of Monday.
