While the pandemic has been hard on business, Butte economic leaders are seeing growing interest in the Mining City.
“It is so busy it is hard to describe how busy we are. Our office is fielding phone calls and interest and visits from people that are interested in investing in our community,” said Butte Community Development Director Karen Byrnes.
Economic officials say it’s too early to go into specifics, but feel optimistic the Mining City could see a boom in the next year.
“We’ve certainly seen a lot of interest from people outside the borders of our community looking to redevelop things, there’s certainly more interest in business than we’ve seen in the last couple months,” said Butte Local Development Corp. Director Joe Willauer.
There are also promising signs in Butte’s real-estate future.
“We’ve been seeing a lot of interest in our residential home market. The residential home market has been very strong,” said Willauer.
Economic leaders suspect the pandemic has a lot of people reconsidering their lives in crowded urban areas and they’re starting to see the appeal of a small town.
“We’re very attractive, because of our size and because of where we’re located, because we’re in Montana,” said Byrnes.
Willauer agreed: “And people recognize what we have to offer here and it’s exciting for us to start seeing those calls come back where Butte’s definitely on the map throughout the great Northwest and throughout the country.”
