BILLINGS – The Montana Highway Patrol is investigating the death of a 53-year-old Billings man who crashed a motorcycle over the weekend.

The Yellowstone County Coroner’s Office identified the man as Charles H. Simpson Jr.

The crash was reported at 12:19 a.m. Sunday at the intersection of North 13th Street and Minnesota Avenue in downtown Billings.

According to the patrol, the man was riding a 2016 Harley-Davidson motorcycle east on Minnesota Avenue when he began to travel over the center line.

He started to apply the brakes, tipped the bike and slid, causing the rider to strike his head on the curb.
