HELENA – A 49-year-old Helena man died after crashing a motorized bicycle on Saturday.

Lewis and Clark County Sheriff Leo Dutton has identified the victim as Jason Dupree.

Police were called to the intersection of Poplar Street and Montana Avenue just before 6 p.m. to investigate a crash, according to the Helena Police Department.

Investigators said Dupree was headed north on Montana Avenue on a motor-assisted bicycle when he struck a curb and was thrown from the bike.

Dupree was transported to the hospital where he died early Sunday morning as a result of blunt force injuries.

Helena Police said alcohol is believed to be a factor.
