A vehicle with a body inside was found submerged in the Missouri River near Craig Monday morning.

According to Lewis and Clark County Sheriff Leo Dutton, at 10:25 a.m., the 911 dispatch center received a call from a fisherman, who was just south of Craig, of a submerged pickup truck in the Missouri River.

Lewis and Clark Dive and Emergency was called to the scene and their jet ski team found that a man and dog were deceased in the vehicle.

The investigation is ongoing, but it did appear the truck had driven between two houses before landing in the river.

The man’s body will be taken to Missoula for an autopsy. His name has not yet been released.
