HELENA – The Helena Police Department continues settling into its new home at 406 Fuller Avenue, now with the help of students in Helena High School’s welding class.
The students have been working for about a month to create the metal signs now hanging inside the department.
About 50 signs have been created for individual offices, to direct the public and for officer storage spaces.
Sergeant Berkley Conrad reached out to the students for the project and says it’s been a great way for the kids to be involved with the community.
“It was nice for us to be able to source the material and have Helena students do this project for us. And it truly is a cost-savings, these signs are much less expensive than the plastic generic ones that are put on the wall,” says Sgt. Conrad. “So this is definitely a personal touch that Helena High was able to do for us.”
You can see the signs at the Helena Police Department and Lewis & Clark County Sheriff’s Office open house at the new Law Enforcement Center.
That event is scheduled for Monday, March 18th, from 4:00-7:00 p.m.
Tours will be held every 15 minutes starting at 4:15.
