The Montana Book Festival kicked off on Thursday but this year it is all virtual.
The COVID-19 pandemic has moved the workshops and literary conversations have moved to Zoom and YouTube. Authors from across Montana and the world are taking to the Internet to connect with readers.
Montana Book Festival Director Lauren Korn says that this year offered the festival a special opportunity.
“We had a unique opportunity with this year’s festival because usually, we can only bring in a certain number of big names people that are willing to travel and this year you know because everything was taking place over zoom you know people could dial in from anywhere,” she explained.
The festival runs until Saturday, and you can still view the conversations and author talks on YouTube. The festival is also holding special gift offers for people that register for Senator John Tester’s book talk on Saturday night where they will receive the book Grounded as well as a copy of the Whitefish Review.
People who donate to the festival will have their names put into a drawing for a gift basket from Montgomery Distillery.
