Carroll College students are coming together to help those who cannot go outside during this pandemic. The group is called, “Carroll Cares.”

“So, it is a student-based outreach program focused on helping to serve the community, serve the elderly, and those immunosuppressed to get those needed items that they can’t get out and get themselves at this time,” says Hailey James, a Carroll College student and founder of Carroll Cares.

Hailey found this idea through a similar project in Havre and got the motivation to begin this organization through her grandmother.

“I have a grandma who has autoimmune disorder, so she is not able to go out anywhere right now. Just having that motivation, made me think of the program and I reached out to the Carroll Community,” says Hailey.

The Carroll Community enjoyed the idea so much that Hailey says faculty and staff members at the college helped her put this organization together and even helped promote it to students and the Helena community. Carroll Cares has over 30 volunteers ready to serve for free to those vulnerable to the virus.

“Just to meet their basic needs and settle some fears of maybe going out in public when they are at risk of getting the coronavirus so it's just awesome to be able to serve in a simple way,” says Taryn Neameyer, a Carroll College student and Carroll Cares volunteer.

Carroll Cares says it will follow all guidelines to prevent any spreading of the virus when transferring items to clients.
