BUTTE – The Board of Director for the Butte Rescue Mission has released its executive director.

The board is seeking a replacement for Rocky Lyons, who has been executive director for the mission since September of 2014, according to a news release from Rescue Mission President Paul Buckley. The release states that the board recognizes Lyon’s many contributions to the mission, but “has decided that a change in leadership is required for the long term success of the Mission.”

No other details about why the decision was made have been released.

“Rocky has served as a faithful servant to Christ in caring for the hurting in Butte and the surrounding communities and the board wishes her well in her future endeavors,” the news release stated.

Lyons spent the past three years getting a new homeless shelter built on East Platinum Street, after the previous shelter was closed due to fire code violations.
