BUTTE - An economic development group in Butte celebrated its golden anniversary Tuesday.

The Butte Local Development Corporation, also known as the BLDC, has been around for 50 years, making it the second oldest economic development organization in the state. The BLDC promotes local businesses and actively recruits new businesses to Butte.

“And so we really wanted to get together and have a celebration with all of our members and hopefully our future members and just talk about what we've accomplished and more importantly talk about the future of our community and where we really see things going,” said BLDC CEO Joe Willauer.

The BLDC currently has more than 150 members.
