BUTTE — Some business owners in Butte say they support the order requiring masks and face coverings in public places.
“I’m all in favor of it, if it helps our community stay healthy, then I would love to see Butte break that curve,” said Carrie Fisher, who owns both the Pita Pit and Taco del Sol in Butte.
Butte Health Department was considering a mandatory mask policy before the governor issued an order Wednesday that masks and facing coverings be worn in public places. Some business owners know it will be a challenge to convince some customers to mask up.
“We see a lot of tourist in our thing and not all of them are wearing masks, they come here and we’re glad for their money, we just want them to keep their germs at home if they have any,” said Gamer’s Café owner Paul Cote.
David Andrews, the general manager at Metal’s Sports Bar and Grille added, “There’s those out there that, you know, think it’s infringing on what they want to do and things like that, and I understand, but there’s a vast majority of people that understand it’s safe.”
And some business owners say that having a mandatory face-covering requirement prevents having another shutdown then it’s worth it.
“We don’t want to go back to that, you know, that would certainly be the kiss of death for many of us, so, yeah, we don’t want to shut down, so we’ll everything we can to comply with what we’re told to do,” said Andrews.
