BUTTE - Montana Tech in Butte has been approved to offer new PhD and master’s programs.

The Board of Regents Friday approved a PhD program in earth science and engineering and a master's degree program in ecological restoration.

The decision was made during the regent's meeting at Montana Western in Dillon. Montana Tech's chancellor said this is good for the Butte university.

“I can't imagine it going any better. We had a very successful couple days; we also this morning got approval to move forward on our nursing simulation center, which the nursing sim center will give us an opportunity to enhance our nursing program and increase our enrollment there,” said Chancellor Les Cook.

The new programs will begin this fall.
