The relationship between teachers and their students is one of a kind.

And with schools closed for now, Belgrade teachers wanted to show their students how much they miss them.

It started with an idea that Ridge View Elementary Principal Mat Johnston stumbled across online.

The plan: form a parade of teachers and drive through the neighborhoods of the kids that would normally be in their classrooms.

The idea quickly spread.

Then at 1:30 pm on Friday, March 27, teachers from all three Belgrade elementary schools pulled it off.

To Johnston, it’s a special way to show the kids just how much they care.

"You think about how much time teachers spend with students throughout the course of the year in relationship to their own families, their own parents," Johnston says. "A lot of our teachers, they become our own kids, in an essence and so not being able to see them on a daily basis it's not easy."

Teachers across the area have already been meeting with kids and their parents through webcam all week, with many going back to school for online class on Monday.
