BUTTE — Tuesday was a bittersweet day for one Montana Tech employee who’s retiring after 31 years of dedicated service to the campus.

Starting when he was just 18 years old Mark Taylor devoted his life to making the Montana Tech community better.

After celebrating with friends and coworkers Tuesday, he now gets to look forward to seeing his brother more often and enjoying the perks of retirement.

Mark made a huge impact on many students during his time working in the carpenter shop. Although he's excited about the next chapter in his life, not seeing his friends every day will take a little bit of time to get adjusted too.

“I love it up here, but I’m going to miss all my friends," said Taylor.

“Mark has been a great influence for a lot of students up here on campus," says Mark's coworker Dennis Lowney. "A lot of work-study kids and those who worked at the carpenter shop come back just to see Mark.”
