OPPORTUNITY – The U.S. Supreme Court Monday agreed to hear a case involving a lawsuit against the Atlantic-Richfield Co. and landowners in Opportunity and Crackerville near Anaconda.
The high court agreed to review Atlantic-Richfield’s appeal of the Montana Supreme Court’s ruling that allowed the group of landowners’ lawsuit to proceed to trial.
The landowners claim the company’s cleanup of smelter pollution in their soil was not good enough and they are demanding further restitution.
