BUTTE, Mont. – The Hennessy Market in Uptown Butte has been closed for close to a month and there’s been no word if there is a chance of it reopening.
It was around the second week of March when a sign was posted on the store’s door that read, “Hennessy Market will be closed until further notice and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. We hope to see you again soon.”
Residents of the building said there was no notice of the grocery store closing down until the sign was posted.
The market first came to Butte in 2010 and is the only large grocery store in Uptown.
“It’s definitely a detriment to those who live up here and really like what we have to offer in terms of walkability,” said Executive Director of the Butte Local Development Corporation Joe Willauer. “Short of a grocery store, anything you could possibly want to do is currently available in Uptown Butte. So yeah, we were definitely disappointed to see them shut down for the time being.”
There is no word on whether or not the store will open again. KXLF reached out to the owner of the building who declined to comment. We also reached out to the owner of the business who has not returned our calls.
