BUTTE – The letters were flying Thursday afternoon at Butte-Silver Bow’s spelling bee competition.
Dozens of students from 4th to 8th grade from schools all over the county competed on the stage of the Montana Tech library, and the top four finishers will get a chance to show off their spelling skills at state competition.
The competition was tough in Butte.
“We have 64 of the best spellers in our city competing for the title to go to the state spelling bee in Billings in March,” said event organizer Cathy Maloney.
The four winners were Nancy Yang of East Middle School, Meredith Varady-Harwood of Ramsay, Spencer Callaghan of West Elementary, and Tanner Bair of East Middle School.
