BUTTE, Mont. – The Butte Knights of Columbus (KC) hosted its monthly Second Sunday Breakfast to raise money for the New Hope Pregnancy Clinic.

Each year from October through April, the KC has volunteers cook french toast, bacon, sausage, hash brown, eggs, coffee and juice to sell to the community for a good cause.

“Last month we raised $1,600 for Mining City Christmas,” said KC member Bernie Boyle. “But we feed a lot of people. You can’t beat it, $8 a person, $20 a family.”

Some of the causes the money has gone to in the past include Mining City Christmas, Coats for Kids, and the Butte Food Bank.

The KC tries to choose an organization or cause they believe really needs the money.

“They are all good causes. Some people just think we have a bar and a gym here but they don’t understand what the KC does,” said Boyle. “Last year alone we gave out $20,000 in donations.”

The food left over from the breakfast goes towards feeding the homeless on Tuesday and Thursday mornings.

“Charity is the first virtue of the KC and that is what it is all about. Charity, unity, fraternity and patriotism. So it is a great group of guys,” Boyle said.

Next month the money raised will go towards the Burgman/Boyle Memorial Scholarship Fund.
