Crews continue battling Rattlesnake Fire outside of Hot Springs

HOT SPRINGS, Mont. – The Rattlesnake fire burning 10 miles northeast of Hot Springs has showed little growth.

The blaze, which is burning on the Flathead Indian Reservation, has torched 1,200 acres and is 0 percent contained since igniting earlier this week.

There are 130 people and a Type 3 Incident Management Team assigned to fight the fire that’s burning in grass and timber along a steep west facing slope.

Firefighters have secured control lines with equipment and aviation resources and burnout operations have gone well, according to fire managers.

The following roads are closed until further notice:

  • The Rattlesnake Gulch Road
  • Sullivan 3000 Road
  • Deep Draw 4000 Road
  • Irvine (Elmo) 1000 Road
  • Irvine (Windy Gap) 1000 Road
