BUTTE, Mont. – The Butte-Silver Bow Council of Commissioners approved a Council Resolution Wednesday night to implement Stage I fire restrictions.

The restriction will be in effect 12:01 a.m. Friday, Aug. 17, 2018.

The Dillon Area Restrictions and Closure Group also recently adopted Stage 1 Fire Restrictions.

In a press release, officials said the restrictions are a result of extended periods of hot, dry, and windy conditions coupled with low relative humidity and no considerable precipitation in the forecast.

Fire Chief Jeff Miller submitted a letter to Chief Executive Dave Palmer and the Council of Commissioners requesting a suspension of the rules and asking them for their consideration to adopt a Council Resolution, which will authorize the Butte-Silver Bow Fire Department to implement Stage 1 Fire Restrictions and then upgrade restrictions as deemed necessary.

Stage I Fire Restrictions mean: No Fires ANYWHERE – unless a Forest Service site is posted with specific exemptions. This includes no recreational campfires in your yards. Also, no smoking unless you are in an enclosed vehicle or building.

If you have any questions, please review the chart below or call the Fire Department at (406) 497-6481.
