POLSON – A Mission Valley man is behind bars after a Thursday night fatal shooting.
Lake County Sheriff Donald R. Bell reported Daniel Chance Blixt, 29, of Pablo has been charged with deliberate homicide in the shooting death of Matthew Adam Posey Darnell, 30, of Polson.
Sheriff Bell said the shooting was called in just after 9:30 p.m. Thursday.
Confederated Salish Kootenai Tribal officers, Lake County Sheriff deputies, and the Montana Highway Patrol arrived at the scene on Division Street in Pablo and found Matthew Darnell shot multiple times.
Darnell was rushed to a hospital where he died a short time later.
Blixt is being held in the Lake County jail until his initial court appearance on the murder charge.
Darnell’s body was taken to the Montana State Crime Lab in Missoula for an autopsy.
