BILLINGS, Mont. – A 19-year-old Billings man will spend two years in federal prison for his role in a 2017 firearms theft from a Billings pawn shop, U.S. Attorney Kurt Alme announced Tuesday.
Austin Lee Lamb pleaded guilty June 26 to theft from a federally licensed firearms dealer and possession of stolen firearms after a burglary of Northwest Pawn & Gun at 1717 Central Ave., according to Alme.
U.S. District Judge Susan P. Watters presided over the sentencing in Billings. She also ordered Lamb to pay $650 restitution and imposed three years of supervised release.
On April 13, 2017, a surveillance video showed three people trying to break into the shop, and one, identified as Lamb, pried open the door, according to Alme.
All three entered the building. Lamb was convicted of possessing a stolen semi-automatic pistol and an AR-15 semi-automatic rifle.
The case was part of Project Safe Neighborhoods, a program aimed at bringing together local, state, federal and tribal law enforcement to target violent crime.
