LIVINGSTON — The Livingston man who was arrested after an armed standoff earlier this month made his initial appearance in court on Monday, Feb. 8, 2021.
According to court documents obtained by MTN News, Michael Marfuta, 49, was charged with attempted homicide, criminal endangerment and deliberate homicide charges in justice court in Livingston.
Marfuta was arrested after an armed standoff at the View Vista trailer court came to an end around 10 p.m Wednesday, Feb. 3.
Marfuta’s bond was set at $500,000 in Park County Justice Court.
According to the Gallatin County Detention Facility roster, Marfuta remains behind bars on Tuesday afternoon.
Marfuta was wounded after shooting at law enforcement, according to Park County Sheriff Brad Bichler. Bichler said Marfuta "made the decision several times to try and shoot us" over the course of the standoff that began Tuesday afternoon.
“These types of incidents are rare but high risk to the subject, to Law Enforcement, and to the public. I appreciate the community's support and understanding. It allowed us to use time to our advantage," Bichler said.
Marfuta was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and was arrested on charges of assault with a weapon and obstructing a peace officer.
