Butte man faces attempted homicide charge in connection with Tuesday morning shooting

BUTTE — A 26-year-old Butte man faces a charge of attempted deliberate homicide in connection with a shooting in Butte Tuesday morning.

Dylan Harrison is accused of shooting a Quincy Street resident in the hand during a scuffle in the 3200 block of Quincy Street at about 7:30 a.m. The victim, a 66-year-old Butte man, was treated and released for his injury.

The incident occurred when the victim confronted Harrison who was allegedly attempting to steal a neighbor’s car. Harrison is accused of pulling out a .45 caliber handgun and shooting the victim in the hand during the scuffle.

Another Quincy Street resident was able to help the victim disarm Harrison, wrestle him to the ground, and hold him until police arrived.

Harrison faces additional felony charges of motor vehicle theft, assault with a weapon, and robbery.

Harrison remains jailed.
