BOZEMAN – Runners will take part in the annual Anacker Bridger Ridge Run Saturday.
250 runners from across the U.S. will race approximately 20 miles in one of the most technical runs in the U.S.
The race will begin from Fairy Lake and will feature a summit of Sacajawea peak before heading through very difficult terrain and ending at the M trail just to the northeast of Bozeman.
Including the length, distance, and elevation gain, race director David Summerfield said the most difficult part might be getting a good footing.
“The difficulty lies that you’re having to watch where you place every foot all the time because the rock may be loose and we’re talking about boulders, that you’re trying to negotiate over, there’s a lot of shale up on top that’s loose, so you can’t just relax.” Summerfield said.
The race was founded by Ed Anacker in 1985 who was a former chemistry professor in Bozeman.
