Posted

A 9-year-old boy died in an ATV crash near Boulder after suffering severe head injuries.

According to the Montana Highway Patrol, the boy was driving when he drifted to the right side of the road, overcorrected and then rolled the ATV on to its side ejecting him.

Sgt. Dave Oliverson with the MHP said the boy was not wearing a seatbelt or helmet.

Oliverson added that vehicles like ATVs and side-by-sides can only be driven by people with a legal license. A helmet and seatbelt must also be worn when operating.

The name of the child has not been released.
