Annette McLean has been with the Winston Rod Company for more than thirty years. Her role has expanded from part-time quality control to the leading female rod designer on the planet. In this Under the Big Sky bonus, Annette takes us through the rich history of Winston Rod and gives us look into the Winston mystique that surrounds this long-standing brand.

Winston Rod has been a pioneer in the fly rod industry for since 1929. From hollow-fluted bamboo development and record-shattering distance casting rods Winston rods carry a strong heritage. The company has continued to innovate with the early use of materials such as fiberglass and graphite. Pioneering, harnessing and refining the unmatched power and performance of boron/graphite composite. These are just a few examples of how, for nearly ninety years, Winston has been responsible for some of the most groundbreaking advances in fly fishing.

The world-class rod maker is located in the small Montana town of Twin Bridges, which lies at the confluence of the Ruby, Beaverhead and Big Hole Rivers which form the Jefferson River. The small Montana town is a well-known fly fishing mecca.
