Rock and roll and politics merged Thursday when Senator Jon Tester's campaign offered concert tickets to find out where Congressman Denny Rehberg will be this weekend.
On Wednesday it was announced that the Montana Broadcasters Association debate that was to be televised on Sunday was canceled. Today, Tester's campaign issued a statement, offering two tickets to Pearl Jam's September concert in Missoula to the first person who can prove where Rehberg will be that day.
After the announcement was made, Montana's Television Network contacted the Rehberg campaign and found out.
Rehberg campaign communications director, Chris Bond, told us today that the congressman will be in Wyoming on Saturday for a campaign event with U.S. Senator John Barrasso.
The Rehberg camp maintains that it never received a formal invite to the Whitefish event.
Bond said the campaign attempted to work out the situation by canceling Rehberg's Sunday travel plans along with a Monday campaign event in St. Louis in order for Rehberg to get to Whitefish by 11:30 that day.
He says the offer to reschedule was not accepted.
As for Sunday, Bond says the campaign is looking to fill the congressman's schedule for that day.
As for more debates, Rehberg's campaign says it is working on a robust debate schedule.
