The Butte Community Health Center will be operating with a new electronic filing system.

It's called Epic, and it allows physicians at the health center and the hospital to view patient health records online, according to Cindy Stergar, CEO of the Community Health Center.
This is beneficial for physicians because they will constantly be viewing updated records for patients who visit both facilities.

Epic also features an application called MyChart, which allows patients to view their own records via a computer or cell phone.

"They can communicate with their physician through MyChart and ask them questions," Stergar said.

The health center also recently added computers to each of their exam rooms so providers can access medical records, order prescriptions, tests and referrals on the spot.

The health center will begin using Epic on July 17th.
